Dog bite cases in Bengaluru cross 13800 in six months

Karnataka saw a significant increase of 36 % in dog bites in the first half of 2025 compared to 2024. The state requires about 38000 to 40 000 rabies vaccines every month, and every government hospital is mandated to treat people who are bitten for free and provide vaccines. Tenders for microchipping, stray dog feeding and observation centres draw poor response.

Health care professionals need up to date knowledge on the rabies vaccination to deal with this disease burden. CMEPEDIA offers them a free course on this topic.
