Combined vax programme for street dogs launched

The BBMP, the administrative body of the government in Bangalore, announced in 2025 a combined vaccine scheme for street dogs, integrating it with the ongoing Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV) programme. The 5-in-1 Canine Core Combined Vaccine target canine distemper, canine hepatitis, parainfluenza, and canine leptospirosis. The target is to vaccinate 184,000 dogs.
CMEPEDIA and ACCRECENT play their part in Rabies prevention. They launched a course on rabies vaccination in humans as healthcare professionals involved in the prevention and management of rabies in India demonstrate significant gaps in real-world clinical practice. These include inconsistent application of updated rabies prophylaxis guidelines, improper administration of vaccines and rabies immunoglobulin (RIG), inadequate patient counseling on wound care and prophylaxis schedules, and poor adherence to complete post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). These gaps contribute to preventable rabies-related morbidity and mortality, despite the availability of effective prevention strategies.
The activity was designed to address these observed deficiencies in clinical decision-making, procedural accuracy, and patient communication in both urban and rural practice settings.
