Shortage of nurses is the next health crisis

Dr Shetty, chairman of Narayana health, said there is massive retirement of nurses across the European Union and the United States. Nurses are retiring in those countries because of the stress and pressure they faced during the pandemic. They are looking at countries like India to provide nurses. Salaries for nurses in these countries have increased three or four-fold. Indian nurses working in private hospitals are considering migration. Dr Shetty suggested increasing the training capacity for nurses in India and making their training more hands-on. Dr Soumya Swaminathan, the chief scientist for the World Health Organization, wondered whether India would have enough health practitioners to train more doctors. More nurse practitioners need to be taught at the primary health care level.

CMEPEDIA helps with accredited education for nurses. So teachers can focus on hands-on training.
